We may be beyond redemption, but if there is the slightest hope of salvation we must act now.
Now is the time to unite, the rich and the poor, the strong and the weak, the north with the south, the enemy of yesterday must become the ally of today. The Asians, Europeans, Americans, Africans, all must unite to win the battle against time. All must fight against the odds, for the survival of our civilization.
I am not talking of some hypothetical invasion from outer space, but of a much more immanent danger, which will change the face of the earth.
In much lesser time than we had imagined, the level of the sea will rise to a point, which will leave millions homeless.
And as the land will have shrunk, our ghastly overpopulated world will become a living nightmare.
As food will become a real problem for all, rich and poor will have to survive with a third of actual production.
Slowly as temperature will rise killing most crops, starvation will set in all regions.
This is not a pessimistic evaluation, we must stop idling on thoughts like, “this is going to happen in a distant future” or “we still have time”, No you haven’t, unless you all wake up and do something!
The recent Nobel Prize Al Gore has awakened a part of the population and has my admiration for it. He and others are working hard to make everyone realize that Now’s the moment, but this is not enough. America and Australia have to sign the Kyoto Protocol, as it has been ratified on the 16th of March 1998, up till now there are 156 countries who have complied.
But neither one man nor one country alone,(however important or great may that man or country be), will save our civilization.
To face adversity, all men from all nations are needed; if we want to survive we have to help one another and start NOW.
Please pass on this message, if ever a chain has ever been worthy, this one has to be the one.
